It might be difficult for golfers and course architecture aficionados to concentrate on the important event at hand as Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina hosts the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship this weekend.
That’s because even though the tourney is the final PGA Tour tournament before the FedEx Cup playoffs and a last chance for the pros to earn a spot in the playoff field, it’s the sublime Donald Ross-designed and Kris Spence-renovated course that continues to be the real star of the show.
Owned by Raleigh-based McConnell Golf since 2011, Sedgefield Country Club had been a member-owned private club since being founded in 1926.
