EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of El Paso celebrated the groundbreaking of the Sun City Lights project, aimed at transforming public spaces into destinations in East El Paso.
The ceremony happened on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Marty Robbins Park, located at 11620 Vista Del Sol Dr.
Sun City Lights is an initiative that works to transform public spaces into vibrant, interactive destinations through creative lighting and placemaking, according to the City.
The project costs $1.29 million and will include the following features:
- Outdoor amphitheater with integrated seating and lighting
- Glow-in-the-dark accents embedded in the sidewalk leading to the stage
- New illuminated sidewalks to improve connectivity
- New landscaping and irrigation system
