An Oakland man faces five felony charges after orchestrating a youth burglary ring that stole at least 500 power tools and other items, according to the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office.
Wuillian Cordova-Cubias, 37, organized a string of burglaries in the Ygnacio and Clayton Valley region of Concord from April to July, the DA’s office said. A group of juveniles carried out more than 35 burglaries as part of the ring, and Richmond police arrested the youths in a vehicle theft in May, the D.A.’s office said.
The burglars broke into vehicles, typically in the early morning, and often used garage door openers located inside the vehicles to enter garages in search of power tools, according to the Concord Police Department. The suspects, who were not identified because of their ages, also were responsible for about 40 burglaries in other cities in Contra Costa and Solano counties, police said…
