4-year-old dies after apparent shock from dryer in southeast Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A 4-year-old child in Allen County has died from an accidental electric shock caused by a dryer, according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a report of the child not breathing around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday after the parents called 911 while en route to a hospital in Chanute, where the child was pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office stated that the child was reportedly playing at a residence in north Savonburg when they allegedly received an electrical shock from a 220-volt dryer.

No foul play is suspected at this time. The sheriff’s office said it “appears to have been a tragic accident.”…
