CHURCH POINT, La. (KLFY) — A day of water, snow cones and summer fun in Church Point also came with a serious reminder about the dangers of extreme heat.
The Church Point Police Department held its annual “Beat the Heat” event, giving children and families a chance to cool off and spend time with local officers before the start of the school year, according to Church Point Police Chief Dale Thibodeaux.
“Every year before school starts, the police department gets together,” Thibodeaux said. “We get donations from our local businesses and we hold a little splash, you could say, back-to-school fun day.”…
