EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Three Evansville Police Department officers received suspensions following an argument at a golf course.
Documents from the Evansville Police Department say that on June 5, several officers attended a golf outing at a golf course. During the outing, Lieutenant Michael Gray got into an argument with the owner after the owner accused Gray of bringing outside alcohol onto the property. The owner tried to ban the lieutenant from the course, but Gray refused to give ID. This is when police say the owner threatened to call EPD, and Lieutenant Gray said, “Go ahead, I am EPD.” The owner then called 911 to report a “highly intoxicated” male.
Documents say Detective Quinton Keil was with Lieutenant Gray during the outing. After the owner called 911, Detective Keil called a responding officer to say he could disregard the call. The responding officer disregarded the detective’s disregard and came to the scene anyway.
