Police: Man fatally struck by car while lying on Elkton highway

ELKTON – An investigation is continuing after a motorist ran over a man while he was inexplicably lying on an Elkton highway in the early-morning hours Friday, according to the Elkton Police Department.

On Monday morning, citing pending next-of-kin notifications, EPD officials declined to release the name of the victim, identifying him only as a 53-year-old Elkton resident.

The incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. Friday when an eastbound car struck the prone man in the 100 block of Route 40, about 200 feet west of the Route 213 intersection, police said. Medical first responders pronounced the man dead at the scene, police added…
