An audit of the Lafayette City Marshal’s Office released Monday reveals additional details about the embezzlement of funds by a former civilian employee.
City Marshal Reggie Thomas reported in January that employee Jackie Welsh was arrested and charged with embezzlement after the internal audit revealed discrepancies that required a formal criminal investigation.
The audit for the fiscal year from Nov. 1, 2024, through Oct. 31, 2025, suggests Welsh, who was the office administrator in the accounting department, allegedly misappropriated $73,250, including $48,250 from Sept. 9-Oct. 31, and $25,000 from Nov. 1-Dec. 30…
