Meet Quake, Bree and Bubbles, Michigan’s contenders for national Hero Dog Awards

Three Michigan dogs are in the running to be named among the nation’s top canine heroes, from Mid-Michigan to West Michigan.

The annual honor recognizes dogs not for tricks or pedigree, but for the ways they serve, comfort and make a difference through lifesaving work and other extraordinary acts.

Quake of Wayland, Bree of Ypsilanti and Bubbles of Otisville are among 25 semifinalists selected for the 16th annual American Humane Hero Dog Awards. The three Michigan contenders are competing in separate categories recognizing service dogs, therapy dogs and emerging hero and shelter dogs. Public voting is now open…
