COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Former Columbus mayoral candidate, pastor, and politician Zeph Baker pleaded guilty Monday to felony kidnapping and family violence battery stemming from a 2023 incident involving his then-girlfriend, Lacai Williams.
Baker was sentenced to five years of probation. Several charges, including aggravated assault and cruelty to children, were dropped as part of the plea. He was also ordered to have no contact with Williams or their daughter, who is now 7 years old.
What Williams says happened
Williams said the incident occurred on April 20, 2023, after she told Baker she was moving on.
“In front of our three-year-old daughter I was brutally beaten, dragged down a flight of stairs, held at gunpoint, forced onto the floorboard of a ram truck and told that if I tried to alert anyone or escape, I would be killed,” Williams said…
