BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A Baton Rouge man was arrested after police say he threatened to burn a woman’s home down and then entered her residence without permission hours later.
Darryl Boyd, 27, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of communicating false information of planned arson and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, both felonies, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department probable cause affidavit. Boyd was expected to appear in court Tuesday.
Initial threat
Officers were first dispatched to the victim’s residence at approximately 12:27 a.m. on Aug. 10, 2026, in reference to a disturbance. The victim told police that Boyd, identified as her child’s father, threatened over the phone to crash his truck into her home and set it on fire during a verbal altercation.
Second call — entry into the home
Approximately three hours later, officers were dispatched back to the same address for a reported burglary. The victim told police she was asleep when she heard a loud noise and found Boyd standing in the hallway of her residence.
According to the affidavit, Boyd laughed and ran out of the home. As he fled, he said, “I don’t give a f—” and “they gone have to kill me,” the victim told police. The victim stated she and Boyd had never lived together and that he was not invited to her home. Police said Boyd entered through an unlocked door and no items were reported stolen.
Arrest
Officers located Boyd during a traffic stop with the victim’s assistance. Boyd was taken into custody and advised of his rights, which he said he understood. Boyd denied making threats to burn the victim’s home. He told police he entered the residence because the door was open when he arrived and said the victim had invited him inside…
