Spokane fire cleanup: Health chief warns about smoke and water

SPOKANE, Wash. — Washington Secretary of Health Dennis Worsham urged people returning to fire-damaged homes in Spokane to protect themselves from smoke, ash and possible contamination.

Worsham, who said he grew up in Othello and went to college in Spokane, described seeing the area firsthand after watching from western Washington.

“Getting here and actually seeing the density of the smoke, seeing some of the damage that has taken place has just been heart wrenching to to know what people have been through here and how difficult it is,” Worsham said…
