$100 million initiative targets South Carolina housing shortage

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina (CCF) has announced the launch of a $100 million housing initiative.

The Tri-County Housing Futures Fund (THFF) is intended to address the shortage of safe and affordable housing in Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties.

The CCF’s goal is to raise $100 million over five years to expand housing opportunities through community partnerships. The three-pronged approach the foundation looks to fuel includes:

  • Improving strategies to create new for-sale and rental homes
  • Providing repair opportunities to existing homes
  • Providing capital to finance housing

THFF will use blended capital through a combination of grants, loans, and co-investment to support a variety of projects and multiply impact, and all housing created through THFF will be deed protected for 50 years or more, creating long-term affordability…
