Chilling twist in Rob Reiner murder case as indictment unsealed

Nick Reiner has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder following the deaths of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, on December 14, 2025.

The new indictment, returned by a Los Angeles grand jury, replaces the previous one with a new alleged special circumstance of lying in wait as well as the use of a knife.

A new indictment

The indictment was returned on July 20 and unsealed on August 12, with Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman sharing a statement in the wake of the news.

“This was a profound betrayal by someone who was loved and trusted by the very people he is accused of killing,” he said. “The indictment unsealed today also adds a special circumstance allegation that the defendant committed the murders by means of lying in wait.”

“We hope that by having a grand jury return an indictment in this case it will bring us one step closer to a trial and achieving justice,” he concluded…
