Anti-Jewish hate crimes have surged in Seattle in 2026, with Jews accounting for nearly one in five hate crimes recorded by the city through July despite representing roughly 1 percent of the metro area’s population.
According to Seattle Police Department data analyzed by JNS, 13 of the city’s 66 hate crimes between Jan. 1 and July 31 targeted Jews, or 19.7 percent of the total. That represents a sharp increase from the 9.1 percent share of Seattle hate crimes targeting Jews since 2023 that JNS reported based on data current through January.
