Rabies Fears After Bat Attack Leaves 2-year-old Girl Bitten in Niagara County

POLICE AUDIO CAN BE FOUND AT THE END OF THIS ARTICLE: Law enforcement received a call around 1:37am after reports of bat exposure on August 8th on Independence Avenue in Niagara Falls, Niagara County.

The 911 caller told police that her 2-year-old daughter was bit by a bat at their home and was taken to St. Mary’s hospital. The toddler was bleeding and parents were afraid of rabies exposure, especially given multiple cases in Niagara County. The bat was not captured and either was still in the house or managed to escape.

Police responded to St. Mary’s hospital for an investigation. No further information is available at this time…
