NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — The closure of the Save A Lot on Durant Avenue has left North Charleston’s south end without a full-service grocery store, forcing many residents to travel farther for fresh food and renewing concerns about food access in the area.
The store, which closed last week, was the last grocery store in the South End offering fresh meat and produce. There are now no grocery stores between the lower end of Rivers Avenue and Remount Road.
