Two former caregivers arrested after leaving vulnerable adult strapped to toilet for an hour, SLED said

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A former nurse and former direct support professional were charged by SLED on Tuesday with Neglect of a Vulnerable Adult, officials announced Thursday.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division announced the arrest of Angela Peterson, 46, of Ladson, and Sherika Reid Myles, 41, of North Charleston, after an investigation at the request of The Coastal Regional Center (CRC), an agency operated by the Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

Arrest affidavits said that both subjects knowingly left an adult strapped to a toilet with a leaking gastronomy tube (G-tube) alone for an hour. While they were strapped to the toilet, they fell and were found in a squatted position on the floor in front of the toilet, still strapped in…
