Car Crashes Into Davidson Pediatric Dentist’s Office, 4 Hurt

A green Mini Cooper tore through the glass wall of a pediatric dental office in Davidson yesterday afternoon, injuring four people including a mother and her two children who had been sitting on a bench just inside the entrance. The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. at Lume Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics on Harbour Place Drive, sending two adults and two children to the hospital.

According to the Charlotte Observer, the driver lost control of the Mini Cooper while trying to pull it free after it had collided with another vehicle, its bumper reportedly caught on that vehicle during the accident. The car then struck the office, according to Angela Olivo, the office manager at Lume Pediatric Dentistry. Metal framing kept the vehicle from fully entering the waiting room, but the impact still caused significant structural damage to the office’s glass wall and metal framing, and it threw the mother from the bench where she and her children had been sitting.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 2:50 p.m. and had cleared the area by roughly 3:53 p.m., towing the damaged vehicle away and transporting all four injured parties to the hospital. Davidson officials have not released further information about the crash, including the extent of the victims’ injuries or whether charges are pending.
