ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A previously convicted felon from Asheville is heading back to prison for distributing fentanyl, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina Russ Ferguson announced.
Sadiq Mafia Devoe Jones, 24, was sentenced to 135 months, or about 11 years, in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. His 10-year sentence related to a federal probation violation will begin after his probation sentence expires, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Investigators learned in Aug. 2025 that Jones was involved in a Buncombe County drug ring that distributed fentanyl, methamphetamine and firearms while he was on federal supervised release for a prior firearm conviction, according to court documents and proceedings. An undercover agent later purchased more than 139 grams of fentanyl and 26 grams of methamphetamine from Jones or people working for him, including at least one transaction in which a juvenile was used to sell fentanyl…
