Douglas: Aunt’s passing stirs up fond memories

I have spent time this week traveling Memory Lane, a journey that is always a mix of melancholy, sadness and gladness.

I have been nestled beside a dozen or so boxes stuffed with literally thousands of photographs, yearbooks, personal correspondence and more, tangible remnants that tell well the story of my Uncle Don and Aunt Marie, who spent a half century filling life’s breadbasket, and reunited with the passing of Marie on Aug. 4.

My assignment has been to pluck from this treasure trove Marie-centric items for display when her 75-year life is celebrated on Aug. 21 in Greensboro, where they made their home, friends, and memories in the Sedgefield community…
