WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A woman was arrested and is facing charges after she was accused of vandalizing the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. on Thursday.

U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro posted on X on Friday stating that a woman named Melissa L. Farris was arrested in connection to the incident.
The U.S. Park Police launched an investigation on Thursday after red paint was sprayed on the marble slabs spelling out “Clean hands Dirty $”. Pirro said the government is bringing charges of depredation against property of the United States and destruction of veterans’ memorials.
Farris Facebook livestreamed leading up to turning herself in. In her post, she can be heard saying she was trying to “do the right thing”. Visibly emotional, Farris said she was just “trying to get people to listen,” although the exact message or action she was was hoping for remained unclear…
