NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A former Teacher of the Year with Metro Nashville Public Schools is speaking out, explaining why she resigned after nearly 10 years in education.
Samira Hardcastle graduated from Metro Schools and then taught math and art for eight years. But in May, she submitted her resignation, citing multiple reasons why she would never walk back through Metro schools halls. She recently posted about the situation on social media, where it went viral.
“I was Teacher of the Year at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Antioch this past year and Blue Ribbon Teacher of the Year for the district,” Hardcastle said Tuesday at the MNPS board meeting. “What you have in front of you right now is my resignation letter.”…
