A small box arrived the other day. I opened it, and to my delight, it contained four large cookies, courtesy of Levain Bakery: Oatmeal Raisin, Chocolate Chip Walnut, Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter.
The cookies came with instructions (more than just “bite, eat, enjoy”). It was recommended to warm the cookies in the oven for a few minutes until gooey—or in the microwave for 20 seconds for those who cannot wait to savor the sugary treat.
The cookies lasted two days. I consumed two on the first day and two on the second. These are deliciously decadent chunks of goodness. My favorite was the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter, heated to luscious gooeyness.
The cookies were a perfect preview of the Levain Bakery, the legendary bakery behind New York City’s favorite six-ounce cookies, which will open its first Orange County location in early September at Fashion Island…
