COLUMBUS, Ohio — The National Weather Service has released more information about the EF1 tornado that touched down in south Columbus during Tuesday’s severe weather outbreak, producing winds estimated at 100 mph as it damaged homes, businesses and trees along a nearly two-mile path.
The tornado touched down around 10:05 a.m. Aug. 11 near South Eighth Street between East Morrill and East Hinman Avenues, according to the final damage survey released by the National Weather Service in Wilmington. It remained on the ground for about four minutes before lifting just west of Fairwood Avenue around 10:09 a.m.
The tornado traveled 1.8 miles and reached a maximum width of about 100 yards. No injuries or deaths were reported…
