Temps not too bad Monday, more storm chances

There is a slow-moving boundary to our south which is why we have a cluster of showers and storms crawling across southern portions of the area this morning. Despite some starting the day with heavy rain, thunder, and lightning, we have not had any warnings over the last 24 hours. Some showers and possibly a rumble of thunder will survive after sunrise as they track into and through South Central Kansas.

The entire area finally got a break from triple digit high temperatures yesterday. This break continues today. Take some time to enjoy it because temperatures will heat back up tomorrow.

Even though there could be a lingering shower or two that lasts through midday, there will be another risk for strong to severe storms later this afternoon and evening. The threat of severe weather will mainly be to the north and west. Any storms that going later today will need to be monitored closely.

Some showers could stick around into Tuesday or at least be nearby. Stormy activity picks back up Tuesday evening. The best chance for strong to severe storms will be to the north and storm severity will need to be monitored through the overnight. While a tornado cannot be ruled out, that threat only includes our counties bordering Northeast Kansas.

We will continue to have showers and storms around at times through the rest of the week. Especially during our evenings, overnights, and early mornings. Temperatures will turn toasty after today but at least it will not be as hot as last week.
