Retired Mobile County ROTC instructor inspires students long after school

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) β€” First Sergeant Arties Roper was honored earlier this month after retiring from the Mobile County Public School System.

Roper spent the last 22 years directing Junior ROTC programs, first at Satsuma and Murphy High Schools, and for the last 12 years overseeing the entire countywide system.

More than 100 people attended his retirement party. Roper was presented a Quilt of Honor, among other offerings of gratitude.
