Arkansas is home to 30 “birthing” hospitals — those which provide labor and delivery services. Since 2019, 10 hospitals have closed their obstetrics units, the most recent being National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs. Sixty percent of the state’s rural hospitals do not offer maternity services, the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement states.
