More than $2 million in beautification efforts happening in Birmingham neighborhood

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham city councilors approved Tuesday more than $2 million to go toward beautifying part of the historic Bush Hills neighborhood.

The council said much needed repair work will be done along Bush Boulevard. The money will go toward repaving Bush Boulevard and replacing portions of the sidewalk.

“Bush Boulevard really is the entry point from going from Birmingham-Southern into District Eight,” said Councilor Sonja Smith. “It’s a historic area, and so it’s really important that we keep those areas nice, keep them beautified and keep them inviting.”…
