Ohio-Based Bank Plans 55 Branches and 350 Jobs Across Carolinas by 2027

Huntington National Bank will open 55 branches across North and South Carolina. They’ll add 350 employees by 2027. The Ohio-based financial institution has centered much of its leadership and strategy in Charlotte since entering the market in 2023.

The bank operates 11 branches in the Carolinas. Three sit in Charlotte: Uptown, SouthPark, and South End. What started as a commercial banking operation on half a floor at 101 S. Tryon St. has grown to two floors there and a major build-out. The company employs hundreds of workers across the Carolinas, with several hundred in the Charlotte area.

“The initial success that we had commercially gave us the confidence to continue to expand and ultimately led to the decision to build 55 branches across the Carolinas,” said Scott Kleinman, president of Huntington’s commercial bank, to The Charlotte Observer. “One every other week seems like a good pace for us.”…
