When Huskers Offensive Coordinator Dana Holgorsen steps to the podium for a press conference, I usually have to try and hide my grin.
It’s not because he’s a stand-up comedian masquerading as a coach – but he is funny without trying. It’s not just because he loves to talk football and dive into the nuts and bolts if asked the right question. He does. It’s not just because he’s not afraid to speak his mind without giving up state secrets. He isn’t.
I guess the closest comparison I have is Charles Barkley. Rick Reilly in a guest appearance on the Jim Rome Show shortly after Charles’ retirement, said a few reporters teared up at that press conference because they were losing the last guy who actually gave you an honest answer when you asked him a question.
