Spokane County commissioners unanimously vote to pause data center applications

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – County officials announced on Tuesday that the Spokane County Board of Commissioners has unanimously approved a resolution to pause land use and permit applications for data centers.

The decision was made during the board’s regularly scheduled afternoon meeting on Tuesday, with the pause set to remain in effect until December 15, 2026.

“The County Commissioners determined a pause on Data Center applications through mid-December would provide time for the County’s Planning Department to draft a zoning text amendment,” Board Chair Mary Brooks said. “It also supplies two opportunities to gather public input on a subject that has captured the community’s interest.”…
