New Asheville festival to celebrate historic neighborhoods through music, history and advocacy

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Legacy Neighborhoods Coalition Festival, which will be held at Memorial Stadium, is a new two-day festival celebrating the people and culture of five historic Asheville neighborhoods: Burton Street, East End/Valley Street, Emma, Shiloh and Southside.

LNC Festival will be held from 6-9:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28 and noon to 10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 29 at Memorial Stadium, 32 Buchanan Pl., Asheville, N.C. The event is free and open to the public.

The Legacy Neighborhoods Coalition was formed in 2019, and has since worked “alongside neighborhood leaders and residents to preserve community history, restore visibility to people and stories that have been erased and advocate for equitable investment throughout Asheville,” the organization wrote on its website…
