Wichita schools, teachers union reach tentative contract deal

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) — Wichita Public Schools and the United Teachers of Wichita have reached a tentative contract agreement for the 2026-2027 school year. The agreement now goes to teachers for a ratification vote and then to the school board.

The total compensation and health package is valued at just over 5.1%. That includes a 1.5% base salary increase, step and track movement, and a 1.25% bonus for teachers at the top of their pay track as of Sept. 11.
