Black bear cubs taken to northern New Mexico wildlife rehab

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) — Two orphaned black bear cubs are now in the care of a northern New Mexico wildlife rescue after their mothers were euthanized.

This follows two separate incidents involving mother black bears. In the first incident near Galisteo, wildlife officials say one mother bear killed livestock before returning to the area the following day to break into a home. State wildlife officers decided to euthanize her, saying she posed a “public safety hazard.”

The second incident took place in Cedar Crest where another mother bear bit a person walking a dog. The cubs of the two mothers were taken to “Cottonwood Rehab” where they will be in good hands on their road to recovery…
