Help support author to open first brick and mortar black owned bookstore in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (Good Things Utah) – Owner and founder of Crowne Books, Olivia Nightingale says, as far as she knows, Crowne Books would be the first Black-owned brick and mortar bookstore in Utah, hosting events such as fangs & fiction to raise money for sickle cell research while geeking-out over black vampire literature in September. She says the proceeds would go to helping research the disease that disproportionately afflicts black people.

Crowne Books will also be apart of the Utah Humanities statewide Book Festival this October with Black Frontiers, celebrating local black authors.

“I plan to open in February of 2027 but need help via GoFundMe, buying books and bookish merch from crownebooks.com, spreading the word about the mission, and following on social media @crownebooks, I have been popping up all over the state to build community in the meantime, with my next big pop up being the first annual Salt Lake Book Festival October 17, 2026 at the Gateway,” Olivia says…
