Plans for new detox center in Reno stall as contractors say they weren’t paid

In February of 2025 Bristlecone broke ground on a new treatment facility on South Wells Avenue. Bristlecone’s executive director Peter Ott said the project would save lives as the addiction crisis continued to grow.

18 months later we’ve now confirmed construction has stalled with no indication of when the project will be finished or if it will be at all. Contractors who have reached out to News 4 say they’re owed upwards of $500,000 for work they did but were never paid for and Ott says he can’t say when they’ll get paid as the project no longer has “sufficient available capital. “We recognize that local contractors and subcontractors performed real work, and that delayed payments create a real hardship,” Ott said…
