CLIMAX, N.C. (WGHP) — At first glance, it could be overlooked. But Clyde Mowery, sitting in his living room in his favorite recliner, is a hospital patient. Mowery is part of Cone Health’s Hospital at Home program.
“All I have to do, or him if he’s sitting here and I happen to be somewhere else, is just push a button, and he has a nurse instantly on the line,” said Mary Mowery, Clyde’s wife.
Now in its second year, patients like Clyde receive at least two daily visits from a paramedic or EMT and numerous video calls with nurses and a physician.
“We bring the equipment, the medication and the team delivered to the patient’s doorstep,” said Alex Carrico, RN, nursing director of the Hospital at Home program. “It’s the same as receiving care in a hospital bed. It just happens to be the patient’s own bed.”…
