Flock tightens license plate camera safeguards as debate grows in Iowa

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Flock Safety is rolling out new safeguards for its automated license plate reader network as questions about privacy, oversight and potential misuse of the technology continue nationwide.

The changes include recommending that agencies keep license plate data for seven days instead of 30, requiring case codes for searches and making Flock’s Audit Assistance feature mandatory.
