Charleston Co. to vote on CARTA eminent domain resolution for Ladson fairgrounds land

LADSON, S.C. (WCSC) — Charleston County’s finance committee is scheduled to vote on a resolution that would allow CARTA to use eminent domain for land at the Exchange Fairgrounds in Ladson.

The Lowcountry Rapid Transit is a 21.3-mile project connecting US-76 and Commerce Center in Ladson to Line Street and West Edge Street in downtown Charleston. Officials say the goal is to help with congestion.

Land dispute

CARTA says it needs six acres of land at the Exchange Fairgrounds for the project.
