“Not as hot” temperatures reside over the area today. There will be another disturbance that helps to create a few showers and storms this evening, coming out of Colorado and skimming our southwest counties. Another batch will track through northeast Kansas and impact the Kansas City metro area.
One or two storms in our territory could briefly become strong to severe. Additional storms will fire overnight near and south of the Oklahoma state line. Any development on the Kansas side runs out of gas early Thursday.
Temperatures are set to gradually climb the rest of the workweek and over the weekend.
An isolated storm is possible by Thursday evening over central Kansas.
A few more showers and storms may fester near and east of I-135 into Friday morning. Activity will be spotty. Another round of isolated storms looks to develop heading into Friday evening. Portions of northern Kansas are under a Marginal Risk for one or two storms, dropping some briefly damaging winds.
High temperatures by the weekend will be inching closer to the century mark over southern Kansas. Northeast Kansas remains the mildest as the heat keeps building into early next week.
Through the end of the month, northern and somewhat western Kansas are better poised to continue seeing hit or miss rain and storms. Wichita and southeast Kansas are looking the driest.
