Heat fades, and storms return to central North Carolina Thursday

All good things come to an end, but what about the things we’re ready to leave behind? The heat is one of them.

After a prolonged stretch of hot and humid weather, a pattern change is finally on the way that will bring more rain and somewhat cooler temperatures back to central North Carolina. The transition begins Thursday as one of several boundaries moves into the area.

A weak surface front will trigger showers and thunderstorms late Thursday afternoon and into the evening, with some storms capable of producing gusty winds and heavy rain. That boundary will then stall nearby, setting the stage for another round of weather on Friday…
