North Syracuse school district plans major reconfiguration for 2027-28 school year

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The North Syracuse Central School District is planning a major reorganization of its schools before the 2027-28 school year, citing declining enrollment, budget pressures and a desire to expand opportunities for students.

The changes stem from a nine-month utilization study that examined how the district’s schools and grade levels are aligned, Superintendent Terry Ward said.

Under the new configuration, elementary schools will serve students from prekindergarten through third grade. Gillette Road and Roxboro Road middle schools will serve fourth through sixth graders districtwide, while North Syracuse Junior High will serve seventh and eighth graders…
