Eight-year-old makes keychains to support animals in need in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — An 8-year-old girl is using handcrafted, cat-inspired keychains to raise money for animals in need. Luna Elmatari, along with her father Sal Elmatari, launched a business called Pretty Kitty Art and Antiques on Instagram to support shelter animals.

All proceeds from the business benefit Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary & Clinic in Rockford. Elmatari started the venture a few months ago and raised approximately $300 for the shelter over the past month.

Elmatari wanted to launch the project after learning about animals waiting for adoption. Although Elmatari is allergic to cats, she aspires to work with animals when she grows up. “I came up with this idea when I heard that little kitties are in the adoption center and they need homes,” Elmatari said. “And they’ve been there for a few years. They’re just cute little kitties that need to see the sun and all.”…
