Boulder vegetation fire highlights Colorado’s dry conditions

BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) – A vegetation fire near People’s Crossing in Boulder County Thursday morning was quickly contained, but the flames briefly prompted an evacuation warning, road closures and blocked access to nearby trails.

Boulder Fire-Rescue responded to the People’s Crossing Fire around 9:19 a.m. An evacuation warning was issued about 25 minutes later for the area near 101 Pearl Street.

The warning was later lifted, and access to the area was restored. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

At the People’s Crossing trailhead, park rangers turned people around as crews worked to contain the fire.

Justin Mincher, who is visiting Colorado from St. Louis, was planning to spend the day ATV riding near Sugarloaf when he encountered the emergency response.

“We literally hit traffic right here when the road was closed, so we didn’t know up until the minute we were here,” Mincher said…
