PeaceHealth unveils new rehab hospital, featuring Oregon’s first brain injury unit

A new PeaceHealth rehabilitation hospital is set to open this fall and will give Oregon patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries and other trauma access to specialized care many have previously left the state to seek.

PeaceHealth cut the ribbon Thursday, Aug. 20, on its Springfield Rehabilitation Hospital at 3555 Game Farm Road, ahead of its official opening in September.

The 67,000-square-foot, 42-bed facility will be expandable to 60 beds. It is Oregon’s first freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital. The facility, which cost $76 million, is jointly owned and operated by PeaceHealth and LifePoint Rehabilitation, a division of LifePoint Health, which operates more than 250 rehab units nationally.

The facility also includes the state’s first dedicated, secure traumatic brain injury unit, which will house 12 patients at a time…
