The South End Children’s Cafe, a nonprofit in Albany’s South End neighborhood that provides free meals and after-school programming to local children, is planning to merge with Unity House of Troy, a larger regional nonprofit, to ensure it has the support it needs to continue its programs and meet demand.
Tracie Killar, founder and executive director of the South End Children’s Cafe, said the idea for the merger came about organically, as she became friends with and began collaborating with Unity House CEO Dave Bach over the past year.
“Unity House, under Dave’s leadership, has been willing to support us and see how they can help so that the South End Children’s Cafe can be sustainable and continue to be impactful,” she said. “That really led to the conversation about a potential merger.”…
