Troy reallocates $1M for Frear Park upgrades

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Over $1 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) is being reallocated in the city of Troy. It will now go toward improvements to Frear Park.

A total of $1,002,017 is being reallocated.

Officials said the money will go toward the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the playground area next to the ice rink, including new playground equipment, a new splash pad, and traffic and pedestrian safety improvements. The remaining funding will go toward the construction of a new permanent multi-use pavilion.

“Frear Park is one of Troy’s greatest recreational assets, and we have an opportunity to make significant improvements to facilities that are used and loved by residents from across our city and region,” Mayor Carmella Mantello said. “By strategically reallocating these ARPA dollars, we can put this funding to work on projects that are ready to move forward and make a real difference for families. These improvements will make Frear Park an even stronger destination for recreation, while continuing our commitment to investing in every part of this tremendous complex.”
