SLC’s Miller Bird Refuge and Nature Park to temporarily close for improvements

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A beloved bird refuge and park tucked away in Salt Lake City’s Yalecrest neighborhood will be closing temporarily for trail improvements and historic structure preservation.

According to a press release from the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office, the Miller Bird Refuge and Nature Park, located at 900 S Diestel Rd, will be closing on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026.

Salt Lake City’s Department of Lands will be completing a $425,000 project over the next few months to improve trail accessibility, stabilize deteriorating trail sections, and protect historic stone walls that were built during the Works-in-Progress Administration by raising the trail to cover their exposed foundations…
