SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — When Garrett Heater first walked into the former Avon Theater, stripped of its ’90s drywall and showing its original plaster from its glory days, he couldn’t talk.
“I just needed a moment to walk around and just sort of commune with what had been there before,” Heater, the president of the Covey Theater Company, said. “The identity had come back.”
Heater is turning the Avon into the Grove Theater, a permanent home for his theater company. He plans for the move to be complete by Fall 2027…
